Chapter I
A Hundred Years of Loving You
"I don't know why you think your feelings oblige me? How anyone could live a 100 years and still act like such a moron boggles my mind". Under the blue sky, in the midst of a vast steppe, under the secluded shade of a small grove, Yohanan is seated on an ornate bench of black steel, with his face buried deep in his hands. The sun beams through the canopy, and shines its light on Eya, where she stands 10 paces across from him.
Yohanan gets up and quickly turns his back towards her, "I don't want your obligation", as he looks back slightly, his face catches a sliver of the sunlight. Eya winces, and finds refuge in the shade of an old oak tree that seemed to condescend upon the entire grove. Yohanan takes a few more steps away from her, searching restlessly, "Maybe if you weren't so heartless, you wouldn't find yourself in this wretched place".
