What we collect.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
As you use Scrivana, we collect the content you write and submit — story openings, round entries, votes — and your activity on the platform. We also collect anonymized usage data through PostHog: pages visited, features used, device type, and referrer. This data is not linked to your identity unless you are logged in.
How we use it.
We use your account information to authenticate you, display your profile, and credit your contributions. We use your email address to send transactional messages — password resets, round notifications if you've opted in — via Resend. We do not send marketing email without your explicit consent.
Usage analytics help us understand how the product is being used so we can improve it. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your writing to train AI models.
Third-party services.
Scrivana relies on a small number of trusted services to operate. Resend handles transactional email delivery. PostHog provides product analytics and is configured to minimize data collection. Our database is hosted on Neon (PostgreSQL). The application itself is hosted on Vercel.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We share only the data each service needs to function.
Data retention.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Story content you submit to a round — whether or not it is voted into canon — is retained as part of the platform's record. If your account is deleted, your personal information is removed, but contributions that were voted into a collaborative story remain as part of that story's canon, attributed anonymously.
Your rights.
You can delete your Scrivana account at any time from your profile settings. Deleting your account removes your name, email, and profile data from our systems. Story entries you wrote that became part of a community story remain, but are no longer linked to your identity.
If you have questions about what data we hold, or want to request a copy of your data, get in touch via our contact page. We will respond within 30 days.
Cookies.
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. PostHog sets a cookie to track your session for analytics purposes. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
Changes to this policy.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of Scrivana after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
If changes are material, we will notify you by email.
